Technolas Perfect Vision Symposiumat the 2009 ESCRS Congress in Barcelona
The XXVII Congress of the ESCRS is taking place from the 12th to the 16th of September 2009. It will be held in Barcelona, Spain, one of the most exciting cities in Europe; a wonderful venue to host the ESCRS Congress, as well as the Technolas Perfect Vision Lunchtime Symposium (TPV Symposium). The TPV Symposium will focus on the two most recent, major innovations in refractive surgery: presbyopia correction with Femtosecond or Excimer laser and Personalized Treatment Advanced (PTA), the ultimate algorithm to treat myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia, thus correcting HOA without inducing spherical aberration.

The Technolas Per fect Vision Lunchtime Symposium will be held on Monday, September 14th, 2009, from 1:00 to 2:00pm, in Room 114 of the CCIB Convention Centre, Barcelona, Spain. A complimentary lunch will be provided to all attendees. The President of the TPV Symposium is Dr. Steven Slade. The programme consists of the following topics:
INTRACOR™
The first flapless intrastromal presbyopia correction with the Technolas Femtosecond Workstation - personal experience and CE study results. (CE Mark received April 2009). Dr. Mike Holzer
PresbyLasik
The new ZYOPTIX® Excimer laser algorithm for presbyopia correction - personal experience and CE study results. Dr. Jorge Castanera
ZYOPTIX®
Personalized Treatment Advanced (PTA)
The new and only algorithm that corrects low and high order aberration without inducing spherical aberration - personal experience and clinical study results. Dr. Erik Mertens
ZYOPTIX® Tissue Saving Hyperopia
The only algorithm exclusively designed to save tissue in hyperopia - personal experience and clinical results. Dr. Erik Mertens
Click here to download the TPV Symposium programme. Please confirm your attendance for the TPV Lunchtime Symposium by contacting Marion Gauthier at m.gauthier@technolaspv.com
The Technolas Per fect Vision booth (nº L2) at the 2009 ESCRS Congress is located on the second floor of the CCIB Centre. Visit us to test the new Technolas Femtosecond Workstation through our wet lab programme. Seating is limited, so please reserve your wet lab time slot with Marion Gauthier, m.gauthier@technolaspv.com, or at the Technolas Per fect Vision booth. The new Technolas Excimer Workstation will also be available for testing, as well as the Diagnostic Workstation and other products.

ZYOPTIX® Personalized Treatment Advanced (PTA) - Our best Excimer procedure ever
ZYOPTIX® Personalized Treatment Advanced (PTA), the ultimate algorithm developed in the refractive market, is the first and only one that treats HOA without inducing spherical aberration. PTA is a wavefront-based algorithm that combines a wavefront module to correct pre-existing high order aberrations (HOA) with an aspheric module to compensate for LASIK induced spherical aberrations. This results in optimal postoperative visual per formance and unmatched visual acuity, especially in poor light conditions. The superb outcomes and fast visual recovery lead to unprecedented patient satisfaction, dramatically reducing the retreatment ratio.
PTA handles myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia, thus correcting pre-existing and surgically-induced aberrations. In terms of HOA control and clinical per formance, PTA is the best algorithm to date (see graphic nº 1). PTA improves the patient’s quality of life by delivering unmatched quality of vision. To achieve this, PTA uses state-of-art technology such as:
- Iris Recognition for enhanced safety
- Advanced Control Eyetracking (ACE™) Technology for improved precision and safety
- Advanced Personalized Technologies (APT ) for enhanced ease of use
- ZYOPTIX® Advanced Nomogram for enhanced predictability
According to Dr Chang’s multi-centre study of 138 eyes in Asia, PTA significantly reduces postoperative spherical aberration, providing the optimal algorithm in terms of higher-order aberration control and clinical per formance. (See graphic nº 2)

Technolas Perfect Vision’s new Center of Excellence
Technolas Per fect Vision, the new global company born out of a joint venture between Bausch & Lomb’s Refractive Surgery division and 20/10 Per fect Vision, welcomes you to its new Center of Excellence training centre. The Center of Excellence offers refractive surgeons, nurses, optometrists and clinical technicians hands-on experience using our state-of-the-art lasers, diagnostic systems and surgical devices.
It offers modular training that is flexible and customisable, allowing delegates to select the elements they consider to be most relevant. All of our courses are meticulously planned and managed by our specialised team of trainers. All courses include a tour of company’s manufacturing areas where delegates will see the latest groundbreaking lasers and diagnostic systems being assembled. The main programme consists of four courses:
1. The latest refractive innovation course. An overview of innovations such as ZYOPTIX® Advanced Personalized Technologies (APT ), ACE™ Technology, INTRACOR™ and Technolas Femtosecond Workstation, as well as the Technolas Excimer Workstation’s innovative algorithms - PresbyLasik and Personalized Treatment Advanced (PTA).
2. The advanced diagnostic course. Maximise your topographer and aberrometer to its fullest potential. Designed for customers familiar with the ZYOPTIX® Diagnostic Workstation.
3. The advanced nurse and technician course. Improving the skills of your support staff, enabling easier, quicker and safer procedures.
4. The femtosecond course. Provides hands-on training in the use of our unique femtosecond laser technology for INTRACOR™ presbyopia correction, CUSTOMSHAPE® corneal transplant and CUSTOMFLAP® Lasik flap cutting.
The Center of Excellence is located in Munich, Germany, one of Europe’s most charming cities, home to our Refractive Research and Development, Technical Service, Application Training and Manufacturing.
