How many eyes have been treated with INTRACOR? What is the treatment indication range of myopia, hyperopia and presbyopia?
More than 1800 procedures have been performed. Currently there is one CE approved procedure for slightly hyperopic presbyopes (range 0.25 D to 0.75 D). The near addition should be 2 D. The correction range under clinical development for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism is currently up to 2 D.
What is the difference between INTRACOR and
CK (Conductive Keratoplasty)?
Conductive keratoplasty (CK): mild heat from radio waves is
used to shrink the glue-like connective tissue (collagen) in the periphery of
the cornea. This steepens the cornea of the hyperopic patients with presbyopia, who gain better near and distance vision, while patients with presbyopia alone gain near vision. But it cannot not be used for myopes. INTRACOR does not use heat; it is considered as a “cold” laser treatment.
